The research conducted in the LBE unit aims to develop the concept of environmental biorefinery, which consists in treating the by-products of human activities (waste, agricultural residues, effluents) and adding value to them as resources of industrial interest (bioenergy, biomolecules, organic amendments), while minimising their environmental and health impacts.
